David Icke has been banned from entering Australia this week ahead of a planned speaking tour in March, after Jewish groups and government elements lobbied to have his visa cancelled on ‘character grounds’ for a number of topics he discusses.

On the latest episode of the General Knowledge Podcast, special guest David Icke joins to discuss the event in an unrestricted, independent setting, some of the reasons he believes he was banned from Australia, the implications on freedom of speech, and blasts what he describes as an emerging “totalitarian Australia”.

A number of community groups – including the Anti-Defamation Commission and the Executive Council of Australian Jewry – successfully lobbied Immigration Minister David Coleman to ban Mr Icke.

In a statement, he expressed disappointment at Australia’s “knee-jerk reaction” and insisted he was not anti-Semitic or a Holocaust denier:

“I have been a victim of a smear campaign from politicians who have been listening to special interest groups attempting to discredit my beliefs, my views and my character by spreading lies.

With no shred of evidence, these ploys have worked.”

On Wednesday, the initial decision was met with widespread approval, including from Labor’s immigration spokesman Shayne Neumann:

“We would have been concerned if Immigration Minister David Coleman granted a visa to anyone who intends to vilify a segment of the Australian community or sow dangerous seeds of disunity.”

His website carries a video called The Day Aussie Freedom Died, in which he says the Government’s decision “should chill to the bone every Australian”.

David Icke ended his statement with a warning:

“Electing to deny my entry into the country only confirms to the general public that my contentions is truly correct; freedom is in the process of being demolished in Australia.

Once gone — it won’t be coming back.”

David was set to tour in March and a petition has been launched to attempt to overturn the ban.

  1. Very extraordinary indeed especially with no evidence whatsoever. Like him or not, no one should be stopped for speaking truth or providing information for people to consider. He doesn’t ram it down your throat and make you believe everything he says.
