Bypassing the concerns of residents.
REMOVING COUNCIL POWERS
I am not the biggest fan of councils, but one thing they are good for is an avenue to express thoughts about, and influence, what is happening in your local community.
I immediately think of Gympie Regional Council, who recently – with the help of former TOTT guest and counsellor Allona Lahn – voted to remove fluoride from water supplies.
If you can get enough like-minded people involved on a local level, you can impact things more than you may believe. And the state government is well aware of that.
For these reasons, they can’t leave decisions regarding AI data centres up to the local residents and councils that represent them – as that would be a threat to investments.
The Queensland government has announced plans to take planning and assessment authority for data centre applications away from local councils, signalling a significant shift in how major digital infrastructure projects will be approved across the state.
The proposed changes, they say, are intended to ‘create a more consistent approach to development approvals’, ‘reduce uncertainty for investors’, and ‘support the expansion of data centres serving cloud computing and artificial intelligence’.

Under the framework, the state government would assume responsibility for assessing applications that would otherwise fall within local councils’ planning jurisdiction.
The approach is expected to draw on elements of Queensland’s existing planning framework for renewable energy developments – another nightmare that can’t be stopped at the local level because the state is solely in control of the decisions.
The move has raised questions about the future role of local government, the rights of affected communities, and the extent to which environmental and infrastructure concerns will influence approval decisions.
Critics of the proposal warn that transferring decision-making powers to the state will reduce the influence of residents and elected councillors over developments that directly affect their communities.
The development of data centres, as we have warned previously, can bring substantial demands on electricity, water, and supporting infrastructure.
Depending on their location and design, projects can also generate noise, construction traffic, and other impacts for neighbouring communities.

Now, local councils won’t be able to retain meaningful opportunities to influence approval conditions, raise objections, and negotiate protections for local residents.
The government has indicated there will be ‘social impact assessments’ and ‘community benefit agreements’ similar to the renewables process, but this is a shadow in comparison to the direct form of democracy that a local council process can offer.
Important details remain to be established, including the precise consultation requirements, the treatment of applications already under assessment, and the circumstances in which councils may retain a formal role (if any).
Regardless of what the plan will look like, the basic premise spells bad news for QLD.
The proposed ‘Western Downs Digital Park’ near Dalby illustrates the significance of the policy shift – and reinforces the need for true community input on these decisions.
Developer Zerra DC has proposed a major hyperscale data centre development in the Western Downs region, with plans for four buildings. Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind Claude, has signed an agreement to use the first building.

The proposal has attracted attention because Western Downs Regional Council had been assessing the application, and hearing the concerns of local residents.

The government’s announcement has therefore raised questions about how existing applications will be handled, and whether previously arrangements will remain in place.
The project also highlights the broader debate over how regional Queensland can attract substantial private investment, while supposedly claiming to still ‘protect’ locals.
The AI data centre vampires are arriving in Australia, and the state government just made it clear that they do not want your low-level opinions involved in the rollout.
With these massive facilities being introduced all across Australia, and infrastructure being altered around them to support the need for resources they require – it is clear that this vision is something they will stop at nothing to see manifested.

They tell us we are ‘free’ and that we live in a ‘democracy’, until key decisions that accelerate the NWO agenda present themselves.
Then, we are truly reminded of our place on this plantation we live on.
Labelled ‘terrorists’ for using more radical means like blockades to stop the developments – despite having no legitimate avenue as an alternative to begin with.
The data centre train seems like it won’t be stopped, and the main question now is: What are they truly being built for?

More bad news, with councils losing power to protect the local people and having to bend over backwards to state and federal governments this is not a good move at all. AI data centres being built so fast amazes me considering we cannot even build good roads. This has to be part of the WEF agenda, for more control and the one world Government. What happened to caring for the environment then? These data centres are not only an eye sore they destroy communities, nature and the resources needed will be enourmous.
Well AI data centres are now being run by billions of human brain cells on chips – they’re harvesting our energy, just like they promised.
We will soon find out what they are REALLY being used for!
It is repulsive and infuriating! I do not know what the solution is, nor how we stop them = (
