Authorities say young people are being ‘radicalised’ online.
NEW ‘COUNTER-TERROR’ FUNDING
Australia has announced a major new investment in ‘counter-terrorism’ capabilities, pledging $74 million to establish a national centre aimed at tackling ‘online extremism’ and the ‘growing radicalisation of young people’.

The proposed Counter Terrorism Online Centre will bring together the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), the Australian Federal Police (AFP), and other federal and state agencies in what ministers describe as a coordinated response to ‘evolving threats’.
The funding, unveiled ahead of the federal budget, reflects mounting concern among Australian security agencies about the speed at which ‘extremist ideologies’ are spreading online, particularly among teenagers and young adults.

Officials say the internet has transformed the nature of radicalisation, with individuals increasingly exposed to ‘extremist content’ through social media platforms, encrypted messaging apps, online forums, and gaming communities.
Authorities warn that ‘extremist propaganda’ is “no longer confined to traditional terrorist networks or obscure websites”.
Instead, ‘radical content’ is often packaged as memes, short-form videos, humour, or gaming culture, they say – making it harder for communities to identify warning signs.
ASIO has repeatedly stated that a growing proportion of its ‘counter-terrorism’ investigations now involve minors, in collaboration with our Five Eyes intelligence network.

Security officials believe vulnerable young people can move from casual online engagement with extremist material, to “violent intent”, ‘far more rapidly than in previous decades’.
The new centre is expected to focus on monitoring ‘extremist activity’ across digital platforms, improving intelligence-sharing between agencies, and working with technology companies to remove ‘terrorist content’ more quickly. It will also support efforts to identify emerging threats and intervene earlier in cases where individuals are at risk of radicalisation.
Government ministers argue that the initiative is “necessary” because modern ‘extremist’ movements are “increasingly decentralised and transnational”.
Rather than joining formal organisations, many suspects now radicalise alone online while consuming a mixture of ideological influences.
Security agencies have pointed to the rise of so-called “mixed ideology” extremism, where individuals combine elements of ‘neo-Nazism’, ‘conspiracy theories’, misogyny, anti-government sentiment, and religious extremism.

Officials say they are also concerned about the role of recommendation algorithms and artificial intelligence in amplifying harmful content.
There is growing fear among policymakers internationally that automated systems on digital platforms can direct vulnerable users towards increasingly ‘extreme material’, while generative AI tools may make ‘extremist propaganda’ easier to produce and distribute.
The Australian government says the centre will help authorities ‘respond more effectively to these challenges’, particularly the threat posed by ‘lone actors’ who may have little or no direct contact with organised ‘terrorist’ groups. Lone-actor attacks are often considered ‘harder to detect’ because ‘individuals can radicalise largely in private online spaces’.

Or, as part of a government training program – but that’s a different story.
The move reflects a broader international trend. Governments in countries including the United Kingdom, United States, and New Zealand have expanded digital ‘counter-extremism’ programmes in recent years following attacks linked to ‘online radicalisation’.
The proposal has prompted concerns from civil liberties advocates and digital rights groups.
Critics warn that expanded online monitoring powers could increase government surveillance of internet users and potentially affect lawful political speech or activism.
Some campaigners have also questioned how artificial intelligence and automated monitoring systems may be used, raising concerns about transparency, accountability and the risk of false positives, particularly involving young people.
The government insists “safeguards and oversight mechanisms” will remain in place, although further details about the structure and powers of the centre are expected to emerge in coming months.
The investment highlights how ‘counter-terrorism’ policy is increasingly shifting away from purely physical security measures, towards digital monitoring. For Australian authorities, the internet is now viewed as one of the central fronts in the ‘fight against violent extremism’.
A ‘fight’ that is really an attack on fundamental freedoms and liberties, packaged nicely as a ‘necessity’ required to ‘protect’ Australian society.
Since 9/11, our country has become increasingly obsessed with spying on and monitoring anyone with viewpoints that don’t align with the established status quo.
This is just an evolution of a tyranny that has existed for many years now.
THE END OF FREEDOM
The ‘anti-terror’ hysteria that has dominated most of the 21st century continues to increase, as imaginary ‘radical lone wolfs’ sit in their rooms being ‘influenced by the internet’.
In reality, radicalisation occurs naturally as a reaction to an inhumane system of oppression and control – all the internet does is let those people know there are others who the same.
Regardless, it seems as if the bogeyman narrative is once again here to stay.
ASIO has previously warned that “an unprecedented number of challenges” await our country on the road towards 2030, including the potential breakdown of social cohesion, more ‘terror events’, foreign espionage, and more.

Our agencies already have a plethora of tools at their disposal to fight so-called ‘extremism’ – and the fight against it has been nothing short of a power grab disguised as ‘security’.
Last month, it was announced that ASIO is set to gain permanent access to some of its most controversial questioning powers under new proposed legislation.

These powers truly became cemented in 2014, when the ‘three bills of doom’ (as I call them) were passed – a triple-hit of suppressive and controversial ‘anti-terrorism’ legislation.

Our federal agencies have also recently started taskforces with special powers to stamp out so-called ‘radicals’ – so why is even more power required?

Meanwhile, the real terrorists are the ones who are winning intelligence contracts and gaining greater infiltration of our systems and agencies with each passing day.

False flag coming up again? Another excuse to kill our freedom. How about chasing up all those who you are tracking already and stopping the young ones from starting out in crime by putting them in jail instead of letting them back out on the streets. Thank you Senator Antic.
