The rest of the decade will prove to be “unprecedented”, says ASIO chief.

LATEST THREAT ASSESSMENT

This week, ASIO chief Mike Burgess delivered his sixth Annual Threat Assessment.

His approach this time was unprecedented.

Instead of focusing on past and present threats, Burgess declassified parts of ASIO’s assessment for the future, warning us about Australia’s security outlook to 2030.

Over the next five years, ASIO is expecting “…an unprecedented number of challenges, and an unprecedented cumulative level of potential harm”, Burgess warned.

At the same time, the threat environment will become more diverse.

Espionage and foreign interference are already at extreme levels, but are anticipated to intensify. Sabotage is expected to pose an increasing threat. Politically motivated violence and communal violence will also remain an elevated concern.

“Tonight, I will reveal elements of our most recent assessment, the security outlook to 2030. It is a frank, uncomfortable assessment. But it is profoundly important, which is why I am declassifying parts of it”, Burgess said at the beginning of his speech.

“Australia has entered a period of strategic surprise and security fragility. Over the next five years, a complex, challenging and changing security environment will become more dynamic, more diverse and more degraded.

Many of the foundations that have underpinned Australia’s security, prosperity and democracy are being tested: social cohesion is eroding, trust in institutions is declining, intolerance is growing, even truth itself is being undermined by conspiracy, mis- and disinformation.”

Espionage, spying, and the theft of information are also heavily on the cards. Burgess has warned that both our enemies and our friends will seek to steal information from us.

This includes information about our military capabilities and alliances, such as AUKUS.

Burgess has warned that foreign governments are monitoring, intimidating and coercing Australians and diaspora communities, including engaging in coerced repatriations.

As Burgess stressed during his speech, these issues “…require whole of government, whole of community, whole of society responses.”

“National security is truly national security: everybody’s business”.

The news comes after the Australian government raised the nation’s Terror Threat Level to “probable” last year, citing an ‘increase in extremist views’.

As we all know, the year 2030 is significant for a number of reasons, particularly as a goal for the New World Order to achieve their transformation of society via ‘sustainable goals’.

So, what are the odds that this timeframe is brought up once again, now to signify perhaps the most challenging period intelligence agencies have ever had to face?

Agencies that, in the wake of the right major ‘crisis’, would look to seize further control.

Is Burgess warning us as a prediction… or as a spoiler of what’s to come?

BUILDING TO SOMETHING.. BUT WHAT?

Burgess could be correct that nefarious players are looking to upend our way of life.

But given the involvement that intelligence agencies have played in ‘world changing events’, there could also be a ‘controlled chaos’ element at play; ‘problem, reaction, solution’.

For you see, Australia has ushered in a host of ‘pre‐crime’ surveillance measures over the last two decades that permit the mass monitoring of society, while allowing for the restraint of individuals based on ‘anticipated future harm’, rather than past or present wrongdoing.

Intelligence agencies actually love these types of scenarios, or ‘threats’, as it keeps them all in a job and also ensures that more powers are subsequently given to them.

In the years since September 11th, Australia has experienced significant shifts in traditional legal frameworks as part of a hyper-legislative response to the ‘war on terror’.

TOTT News has covered some of the most important developments in this saga since 2011, including the ‘Triple Threat of Doom’ in 2014 — three pieces of legislation that transformed the dynamic of freedom as we know it.

Since then, we have seen countless stories over the past few years ramping up the PR campaign that ‘extremists’ are coming to get us.

In 2022, Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said the government had “zero tolerance” for anyone “…threatening the peace and cohesion of our society by trying to use violence to achieve a political, religious or ideological goal”.

The latest in this ‘extremist’ saga saw controversial ‘hate crime’ legislation passed earlier this month, including mandatory sentences for ‘terrorism offences’. Orwellian to the core.

The Law Council of Australia, as well as other critics, said they were “extremely disappointed” that mandatory sentencing had been included.

If intelligence agencies believe this is the correct path to deal with these problems, no doubt recommending to government whilst planning the bill, then they have missed the point.

The more you squash and stamp-out opinions you don’t agree with, the more they will become isolated in echo-chambers and harder to keep an eye as resentment grows.

This type of response accelerates the ticking time bomb, not the opposite.

But then again, perhaps that is exactly what the government and intelligence agencies want.

Once again, we find ourselves in a position where a potential false flag terror attack could be on the tables.. as a means to offer the ‘solution’ to perceived (and planned) unrest.

The hidden hand of the state-sponsored ‘terror attacks’, from Port Arthur to overseas events, is well-documented. Agent provocateurs and paid actors shaping narratives.

ASIO’s assessment of how things will unfold over the next decade here at home isn’t very re-assuring, and they could be planting subconscious seeds regarding what is about to come.

With the state of the world at present, nothing is off the cards. If another ‘high-level event’ takes place (or was ‘allowed’ to take place), you can bet the crackdown will tip the scales of freedom and ‘security’.. away from freedom.
