The engineered ‘war’ stage show continues.
NEW DEADLINE EXTENSION
In yet another pivot that has momentarily shifted the Middle East storyline, U.S President Donald Trump has granted a fifth extension to his ultimatum against Tehran.
The move, announced just 90 minutes before a “final” deadline on Wednesday, has formalised a precarious 14-day ceasefire reportedly brokered by Pakistani mediators.
For weeks, the world has watched a high-stakes game of geopolitical soap opera.
The President had previously vowed that failing a total capitulation from Iran, the U.S would launch a campaign of such magnitude that “a whole civilisation will die tonight.”
Not only were these words disturbing in nature, but as expected, it was a whole ball of nothing again, with Trump opting to “suspend the bombing” in favour of a two-week window instead. The ceasefire rests on a fragile set of conditions:
Primary among these is the “complete, immediate, and safe” reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which has been effectively blockaded since hostilities escalated in February.
Safe Passage: Iran has agreed to “regulated passage” for tankers, though Tehran insists this remains under the coordination of the Iranian Armed Forces and will likely be tolled.
The Islamabad Talks: Negotiators from Washington and Tehran are scheduled to meet in the Pakistani capital this Friday to discuss a potential “15-point transaction”.
‘Nuclear’ Constraints: Trump has remained adamant that “there will be no enrichment of uranium”.
Within hours of the announcement, the truce was tested by continued Israeli strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon – a theatre Trump has dismissed as a “separate skirmish”.
Tehran, however, views it as a direct violation of the spirit of the ceasefire.
“Our hands remain upon the trigger,” warned Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
“Should the slightest error be committed by the enemy, it shall be met with full force.”
The same back-and-forth nonsense we saw last year repeating itself again.
As the new deadline of 21 April 2026 looms, the world’s eyes remain on the Gulf for the next instalment of the engineered ‘war’ drama.
Will the ceasefire hold? Will it fall?
