NEW ‘VILIFICATION’ LAWS

Victoria recently passed tougher laws aimed at tackling ‘hate speech’ and ‘vilification’, including supposed “abusive behaviour” carried out online.

The reforms broaden the range of people protected by the state’s ‘anti-vilification’ laws and introduces criminal penalties for the most serious forms of ‘hateful’ conduct.

The changes are significant for social-media users, because the law explicitly recognises that vilification can occur through online platforms.

Public conduct covered by the reforms includes “hateful words or messages communicated on social media or elsewhere online”, also covering schools and workplaces.

The expanded protections cover people targeted because of “disability, gender identity, race, religious belief, sex, sex characteristics, or sexual orientation”.

Protection also extends to people because of their personal association with someone who has one of these characteristics. Yes, one can be offended on behalf of a friend.

The government says this will not make ordinary online trolling a criminal offence, but is unclear on what exactly will be classified as ‘vilification’ or ‘serious hate-based behaviour’.

The move follows similar laws that came into effect earlier, in September 2025. Under those reforms, it became an offence to “incite hatred, serious contempt, revulsion, or severe ridicule” against “a person or group because of a protected characteristic”.

A separate offence covers serious threats of physical harm to a person or group, or to their property – which is the only reasonable part of the dystopian bill.

The incitement offence can attract up to three years’ imprisonment, while the threat offence carries a maximum sentence of five years.

But it doesn’t end there.

The reforms also strengthen what they describe as ‘civil protections’, giving people additional avenues to challenge ‘hateful’ conduct without necessarily requiring it to meet the threshold for a criminal prosecution. Complaints can now be made through the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission.

Another woke think-tank being propped up to police the thoughts of citizens.

But what do real human rights groups say?

The Human Rights Law Centre warned that the laws could potentially be used against legitimate political speech and argued for stronger safeguards.

Other critics have questioned whether concepts such as “hatred”, “severe ridicule”, and “vilification” could be interpreted too broadly – which they absolutely will. This is particularly relevant online, where political arguments can become heated very quickly.

Religious organisations have also raised concerns that sermons, theological discussion, or criticism of beliefs could potentially attract legal scrutiny.

The legislation does contain exceptions for ‘genuine’ religious, academic, artistic, scientific, and public-interest discussion – but again, where is that line drawn?

Can we really exist in an online world where robust disagreement remains lawful, but deliberately targeting people or groups with supposed ‘hate speech’ is illegal?

What is the difference at the end of the day? Who gets to decide these things?

That is a very slippery slope, and the broad nature of the legislation will only strengthen the state in their efforts to squash freedom of speech in this country.

A campaign they have been on for many years now – slowly chipping away at whatever civil liberties we have left, in favour of the cultural marxist honey pot philosophy.

The emotions of the masses are played with each and every day like they are puppets, capitalising on further manufactured divisions and justified anti-government sentiment.

How long do we have left to speak what is really on our minds?

‘HATE SPEECH’ DYSTOPIA

The ‘hate speech’ crackdown has been one of the most fascinating topics to follow over the last decade, as a new-age Thought Police foundation is born in Western nations.

What is funny to me through this shift, however, is how different levels of ‘hate’ are either used in ways that benefit the system, whilst they also build an apparatus to counter it.

They will gladly divide people over issues like race and religion, with the nightly news serving as your dose of Two Minutes Hate programming. They tell you who to hate – ‘far-right’ Nazis, ‘antisemites’, etc – and you must show negative emotions to them at all times.

On the other hand, those that hate the system are deemed as threats to society.

In simpler terms, you are only able to ‘hate’ who they tell you to ‘hate’.

We know how Orwellian the recent passing ‘hate speech’ laws were for our democracy, sparking debate about how online expression may be policed.

The Combatting Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Act 2026 strengthened federal offences for ‘promoting or inciting hatred’ on the basis of race and other ‘protected attributes’, and expands penalties for conduct that could “intimidate, harass or cause fear”.

Now, we see it unfolding on the localised state level as well, with arrests being made for those who dare utter a ‘forbidden phrase’ or ‘teach incorrectly’ in schools.

It ultimately comes down to this: Thou shall not have hate for bad state actors under this new world order system, because that type of ‘hate’ leads to instability – and instability is bad for the business of those who want to stay dumbed-down and silent.

But hating your neighbour because he may not like how the government is running things?

Or because he didn’t want to take his COVID vaccine?

Totally acceptable!

This is nothing but a plot to strangle what little freedoms we may have left here in Australia, until they end up with generations of mindless bots who never question anything – and never remember a time were people did. We are seeing the beginning phases of this.
