What is happening with the next generation?

It appears youngsters across Australia are struggling to comprehend and communicate.
One in four children are arriving at school with communication skills that are not what they should be, according to the Australian Early Development Census.
A child’s early communication development is influenced by biological, social and environmental factors, meaning there could be a number of reasons this is the case.
Medical factors that can affect a child’s language development include hearing issues, neurological conditions, and intellectual disability.
Environmental factors include limited interaction with adults, excessive screen time, insufficient exposure to varied and complex language, and poor access to early education.
At present, only 25 percent of parents read to their children once a week or not at all, causing some children to miss out on bedtime stories – something which has been an important evening tradition in families, forever.
That’s not helped by the fact that Australia currently has a shortage of speech pathologists, and our country does not currently have a national policy regarding early intervention for children with speech or language delays.
In addition, adult literacy capabilities are another reason attributed to the low reading rates, with 56% of parents revealing they were nervous about reading to their child because of their own reading abilities – a cycle that has persisted for decades now.
The figure is twice that for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who don’t have the motor skills, communication skills and social or emotional wellbeing necessary for school.
The results highlight the need for more funding from the government, education advocates say – but will this really solve anything?
Even moreso, does the government even want to help the next generation?
This is where the rabbit hole gets deeper, and true reasoning behind the decline is exposed.
For you see, the ‘powers that be’ are more than happy to have a population of uneducated, dumbed-down slaves – those who are just smart enough to do the required task in front of them, but not smart enough to think about it or question deeply.

A MANUFACTURED DECLINE
The biggest threat to government and corporate control is a society is well-informed, educated people. It is, in fact, the last thing they want – as it threatens their power.
This is why they have a created a modern world full of distraction, brainrot, and laziness.
Excessive screen time, for example, negatively impacts writing and reading by shortening attention spans. This reduces vocabulary and reading comprehension, and fosters a preference for passive content over complex, engaged reading.
This can lead to difficulties with longer texts, poorer vocabulary development, and reduced ability to focus on tasks requiring sustained concentration – though some digital tools can support literacy when used in moderation.
Kids are at home watching TikTok all day, and so are their parents.
Let’s also not forget about COVID lockdowns, where the stress and isolation of the pandemic left social and emotional scars that are already being seen in children years later.
Childhood experiences, after all, tend to have an outsized effect on life trajectories because they can alter brain development, behaviour and overall wellbeing.
And the results are certainly showing, with children getting more intellectually challenged by the day, blanketed underneath new medical diagnosis terminology.
We have recently witnessed the creation of ‘Thriving Kids’, a new federal program to support children with mild to moderate developmental delay or autism.
Details about how Thriving Kids will operate are yet to be worked out, but authorities say one of the initiatives under consideration was the creation of a new Medicare item for speech pathology “to support kids to communicate and build relationships”.
But why is this even happening in the first place?
I appreciate that we are living in an era of over-information and over-stimulation, and that parents are slipping more than ever – but this type of decline never really impacted me or my peers, despite being part of the first generation to have iPhones in school.
Something has happened with Generation Z that is unlike anything ever witnessed – and that “something” is intentional.
Let’s also not forget the South Australian government recently announced the appointment of the role of Assistant Minister for Autism. It’s the first portfolio of its kind in Australia.
This role will now be responsible for delivering Labor’s ‘autism election commitments’, in conjunction with the ministers for education and human services.

Communication skills are one of the sharpest tools a human being can possess, both for themselves and their society. Without these skills, both will inevitably suffer.

Not quite sure what I can say to add to this as you have nailed it already. But I must just mention again the vaccine regime that these poor tiny tots have to go through just to go to kindy or pre-school. They need to look at the link between these medical procedures and the effects they have on the brains of these children just starting out in life. From day one they are jabbed and there is always that toxic aluminium in these things. Next the parents who should know better give them devices to play on when they are far too young. They should be outside playing in the sun, using their imagination to dream up games to play. I’m in my seventies and we all played outside, in fact we tried to get as far away from our parents as possible in case they gave us a job to do. Definitely too much screen time including T.V. and devices – which by the way emit too much blue light and are not a good idea at night time. I am feeling that the governments are going to be concentrating on the wrong approach again and they will still be baffled as to why is this all happening and not getting any better.
Yes I’d say all by design. A dumbed down society will be much easier to control and get no fightback. I agree that years ago kids used to make up their own games and were outside most of the time getting fresh air and dirty too so building up their immune system. Kids used to have to do abc and learn to read at an early age plus they had to learn times tables by rote, but which stood them in good stead later on. If you’ve ever noticed while shopping young people get stuck when giving change if anything goes wrong with the system. They cannot count and it’s a shame. They need a calculator all the time. It’s up to parents to make changes to these conditions but many parents are being led astray and confused by all the demands in schools. And yes kids are jabbed from day one and much more than the older generation ever were. A recipe for many ill health issues not being addressed.
