COMPENSATION SCHEME ENDS
Today was officially the last day for Australians to apply for compensation under the Federal Government’s COVID-19 vaccine injury scheme, as it will come to an end as of midnight.
The TGA says it has ‘identified no new vaccine-related deaths since 2022’, and as a result, the Federal Government won’t accept new applications under the scheme after today.
A government spokesperson said the scheme was established by the Coalition Government as a “no-fault, time-limited claims scheme to respond to the unprecedented immediate circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic”.
Time limited? Does anyone ever remember that being said?
Since the scheme was launched in December 2021, over $32 million has been paid out to 392 claimants who suffered a “moderate to severe impact” following an adverse reaction.
That’s an average of approximately $81,000 per person approved.
Among the recognised potential adverse effects are:
Heart conditions like myocarditis and pericarditis, certain types of blood clots, skin disorder erythema multiforme, capillary leak syndrome, autoimmune condition Guillain-Barre syndrome, and transverse myelitis, which inflames the spinal cord.
$81,000 seems like a decent healthy amount for a lifetime of debilitation…
Herding the “sheep” certainly paid off, in the words of former PM Scott Morrison.
There have been calls for many years for Australia to establish a comprehensive no-fault vaccine injury compensation scheme, covering all vaccines.
Such schemes exist in other countries, including the U.S, U.K and New Zealand.
For years, the government would never even dare admit any vaccine was the cause of any adverse reaction, despite billions being paid overseas. Then, when the COVID jab came, we finally got one.
When the claims scheme opened for submissions in September of 2021, then-health minister Greg Hunt said: “Serious and life-threatening side effects are very rare, but it is important that we provide a safety net to support those affected.”
A ‘safety net’? $81,000 will barely get people through one year.
And these are the ones who made it through the process..
Since the scheme began in December 2021, it has only paid half of the $76.9 million set aside for possible payments in Services Australia’s portfolio budget statement.
Last time we checked it, a spokesperson for Services Australia said 2,267 claims were “in progress” or “waiting on further information from applicants”, and 562 had been deemed “not payable”.
A spokesperson for the Health Department said today that any claims submitted by the closing date of 30 September — today — would “continue to be assessed in line with the scheme policy”.
But that’s it.
Now, the only scheme we have ever had, is ending.
And, with even more COVID-19 vaccines on the way for Australia, what about those still to come?
Will victims of any future booster shots be covered under this scheme when it ends?
SCAM OF THE CENTURY
What is most stunning about this news, beyond the fact the scheme itself has been proven to be largely a scam, is that they are actually ending whilst still rolling out COVID jabs.
You would at least expect them to keep it rolling while the product is still in the marketplace..
Just earlier this month, it was announced that the TGA is considering the approval of yet another iteration of the COVID vaccine – this time a shot ‘targeting’ the ‘JN.1 omicron subvariant’.
This would be shot number seven, after shots fix and six (immunocompromised) were rolled out last year.
And, in some industries, these vaccines remain a requirement for working.
Now, despite the compensation scheme closing, the courts are still a place of action for those seeking justice, including many that were denied or haven’t been seen on compo waitlists.
Victims of these jabs are seeking accountability, with an ongoing class action lawsuit organised by Queensland GP Dr. Melissa McCann, which also alleges government negligence.
Earlier this year, the state government of South Australia was ordered to pay a former employee compensation after he suffered from pericarditis following a booster shot.
The judge ordered the state government to pay his weekly income support and medical payments.
Business owners are also locked into their own class action lawsuit, with over 1,300 of them in Victoria seeking justice for suffering through the world’s longest COVID-19 lockdowns.
For the government to completely close the scheme, it says everything you need to know about how they really felt about it all along, and is a testament to the dying days of the coronavirus narrative.
The Australian government should be ashamed of themselves for what has unfolded in this period and let’s hope the history books remember these years for what they truly were.
For those getting jabs moving forward, the courts are now your only option.
