Plans to limit cash transactions over $10,000

The Australian government has released draft legislation to implement an economy-wide cash payment limit of $10,000 from 1 January 2020.

Treasury officials have announced the laws will be “encouraging the transition to a digital society”.

WA joins ‘No Jab, No Play’ vaccine crackdown

The WA government will give the Health Department powers to ban unvaccinated children from attending school and child care centres as part of ‘No Jab, No Play’ measures expected to take effect on January 1, 2019.

Under the new laws, kindergartens, schools and child care centres will be required to keep up-to-date immunisation records, and the department’s “chief health officer” will have power to “order under-vaccinated children to stay home”.

‘Genderbread Person’: Brisbane high school using banned gender theory resource

Students at one Brisbane high school are learning more than just the birds and the bees.

Queensland’s educational department says it won’t move to stop a high school in the northern suburbs of Brisbane using a banned educational resource which encourages students to think of gender as a spectrum rather than a strictly defined binary.
