BOM UNDER FIRE

Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has come under significant criticism by farmers across the county, after repeated false forecasts and missed weather alerts.

South Australian farmers spent the spring season offloading livestock in anticipation of what BOM said would be a dry, scorching summer, only to be met with cool and wet conditions to begin summer instead.

This “horrifically inaccurate” prediction has been blasted by farmers, including local beef producer Tim Burvill, who says BOM has “pretty much lost all credibility in the farming and agricultural industry”.

The botched predictions in question were forecasted towards the end of last year, in which BOM stated that most of the country would have roughly a 20% chance of exceeding the minimum rainfall over the next three months from September 2023 – December 2023.

One user commented on Facebook: “This is BOMs 3-month prediction in September 2023 for the last 3 months of 2023 with outcome, not even close.”

“They forecast hot and dry every year for next 100 years, but can’t forecast rain and floods 24 hours ahead. The whole year was wrong. That tells you that it’s a complete scam.”

South Australia is not alone.

Indeed, BOM has repeatedly left the country high-and-dry with their predictions. At the end of December, Queensland was hit with waves of damaging winds, rain and even a tornado in the south-east.

We reported on how multiple regions were hard-hit by record flooding that destroyed homes and infrastructure, with farmers and their crops wiped out in the wake of what they call a “failure” by BOM.

Whether in South Australia, Queensland, or anywhere else across the country, farmers are certainly not happy with BOM for these monumental failures in data forecasting.

Sources have told TOTT News that BOM’s systems became worse following a hack in 2017, where the whole backend system was revamped by outsourcing overseas — but this new system is not reliable.

The federal government have announced a review into this system, which is a move that has been called for across most of this decade by commentators, following these damaging failures.

But this seems to be all just be ‘smoke and mirrors’, as they say, because the system itself is only one piece of a bigger, problematic puzzle. BOM has always been unreliable, even when their system worked.

Whether it is new mistakes in their systems, or intentional manipulation of data, BOM have proven time-and-time again that they can not be trusted for weather forecasts.

This becomes a big problem when you consider BOM has been one of the main driving forces pushing out ‘climate change’ propaganda in Australia, using their skewed and false data as justification.

DODGY BOM

BOM has been caught repeatedly over the years openly lying to the public, using typical statistical and data manipulation to push a centralised message of ‘warming doom’ in Australia.

Just last year, BOM’s accuracy was drawn into question after a Freedom of Information (FOI) request showed temperature measurements taken using “updated probes” in weather stations at the Brisbane Airport site could be up to 0.7C warmer than temperatures taken using a traditional thermometer.

This was revealed after more than three years of fighting in court, with a group of independent scientists lead by Senior Fellow John Abbot finally won in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Increased media sensationalism suggesting ‘climate change’ will bring ‘disastrous impacts’ for Australia continues to spread, and as such, the accuracy and integrity of temperature information is crucial.

Despite this, in 2019, the Bureau of Meteorology was caught re-writing Australia’s temperature records for the second time in six years, greatly increasing the rate of warming since 1910.

Rather than the nation’s temperature having increased by 1C over the past century, the ­bureau’s updated data set — ACORN-SAT — was updated to show mean temperatures have risen by 1.23C.

The bureau has fiercely defended the accuracy of ACORN-SAT data, yet these changes have increased the rate of warming by 23 per cent, compared with the earlier version-one data.

Agency officials admitted that the problem with instruments recording low temperatures likely happened in several locations throughout Australia, but they refuse to admit to manipulating temperature readings.

Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott discussed setting up an investigation into the Bureau of Meteorology in 2015, amid media claims it was exaggerating estimates of ‘global warming’.

Abbott’s own department canvassed using a taskforce to carry out “due diligence” on the BOM’s climate records, but this would never eventuate and has caused even more harm in the process.

The Bureau has repeatedly denied skewing climate data, citing ‘lost’ or ‘outdated’ methods used to record the original temperatures, which show similar temperatures across the country this time last century.

Brutal heatwaves in the late 1800s and 1930s-40s have been swept under the rug as ‘outdated’, while Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says ‘climate change is to blame’ for radical conditions.

‘Oh, it’s just too hard to predict the radical weather changes because of muh climate changes’.

Meanwhile, there hasn’t been a peep from establishment talking heads about the role geoengineering programs play in weather manipulation, and how BOM is likely aware of this and covers it up too.

Let’s hope that the damage, as bad as it has been this season, gets more and more people to ‘wake up’ to the lies and deceptions of the weather forecasters, including BOM.

This organisation can never, ever, be trusted again.
