  1. Good piece of research, analysis and discussion, Ethan.

Shame on Elvis, Johnny Cash, Marilyn Monroe et al for promoting the harmful polio vax in the mid-1950s. Not that they would have had a choice: “Do as we tell you and we will give you the world”. And in recent times, shame on Elton, Michael Caine, Dolly Parton (with that cringeworthy “Vaccine, vaccine…”, Jennifer Lopez, The Queen, David Beckham…and we shouldn’t forget poor old Warnie, all promoting the Covax, which is much worse than the polio vax. A recent article in “The Conversation” examining this was titled “From Elvis to Dolly, celebrity endorsements might be the key to countering vaccine hesitancy”.

And back in the 19thC, a celebrity and Establishment figure of the time, mathematician and author, Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson), promoted the deadly smallpox vax. One of his favourite “young girls” later became the mother of Aldous Huxley (“Brave New World”).

Who will they go to next time, to play the celebrity Pied Piper jabberjockey role? Taylor Swift. Oh no, I just had a scary thought…they wouldn’t co-opt Queensland’s much-loved little Bluey to promote the vile practise of vax…would they?

Yes, the two anti-vax “silver foxes”, Judge Lindsay and me, are still active in SA, ably supported by anti-vax “vixens” in the form of Kathy Scarborough and Elizabeth Hart.
