TOTT News – Presenting independent, alternative coverage of the G20 Summit in Brisbane
One of the biggest weeks in Brisbane; one of the largest events to ever take place in Australia: As preparations for 2014 G20 Leaders’ Summit begin to take shape, and the city is rapidly transformed in anticipation of guest arrivals from the 20 largest economies in the world – TOTT News will be heavily amongst the collective peoples’ response to capture interviews, videos, photos and much more coverage during the week.
For those who don’t know, the G20 Summit is an annual meeting of various ‘Heads of State’ from the largest economies in the world, where a variety of topics are supposedly discussed including (but not limited to) the economy, environment and general geo-political landscape. This year, the summit comes to Brisbane – and, as international precedent examples show us – it promises to be an extremely interesting week in Brisbane.

The G20 Summit was announced to be held in Brisbane quite some time ago. Now, as we draw closer to the event, police have announced and now (enforced) unprecedented laws based on a broad range of loosely-defined definitions, forums have been held on civil liberty concerns, activists have planned counter-action in opposition of the event, the catalyst has been set – and now, as of yesterday – a ‘police state’ in a realistic sense of the term is currently expanding as the event approaches.
TOTT News – in living up to our fundamental slogan, ‘Australia’s Front Line’ – will be in the heart of Brisbane as all of this unfolds before our eyes in the coming days..
OUR COVERAGE – WHAT TO EXPECT
At the time of publishing this article, the blueprint plan is for TOTT News to cover as much of the Peoples’ Convergence (3 day festivities) and March (on Saturday) as we are able to do so. This will include various multimedia content from a range of forums, discussions, citizens and much more – as our team will be spread out across the city covering everything as it happens!
Our articles will be divided into two major pieces that will update regularly with new content and updates:
- G20 Coverage & Updates: Peoples’ Summit in Brisbane (November 12th – 14th) | TOTT News
- Thousands march in response to the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brisbane | FULL COVERAGE
[LINK COMING SOON]
As these archived articles are updated with each passing day, individual articles on major stories will be published in between to further expand on summarised reports in the main two pieces. This will be accompanied with exclusive YouTube-only video content, and Ethan will be giving live updates on the ground from his Twitter account. We believe this diversity of coverage will appropriately capture the various happenings in Brisbane over the next week, as the leaders arrive and the people respond.
All events, and information about the Peoples’ Summit and Legal Rights & Responsibilities of the Public (including an analysis of the laws enforces) are posted in the following article: Discussion: What to expect at the 2014 G20 Summit in Brisbane

CITIZEN JOURNALISM – PROVIDING THE TRUTH FOR YOU
TOTT News has previously analysed extensively the role of the media in society and how the established press not only manipulate public opinion by inducing fear-based, sensationalist propaganda from a pre-programmed perception of the world – but also how they use this to further extend and benefit their own agenda.
Independent, alternative media – such as TOTT News – is dedicated to confronting issues not confronted by the corporate, controlled mainstream media, and thus, will strive to provide the highest standard of objective truth journalism from the G20 week in Brisbane. We hope to not only provide a platform for our domestic audience around the country, but also for international viewers who are interested in observing what is really going on in Australia – as bias pieces of Australian mainstream programming is inevitable.
In response to this, TOTT News and a number of affiliated citizen journalists will be able to access wifi and food/drinks at two different media hubs available, including the Wandering Cooks workshop at 1 Fish Lane, South Brisbane. This venue will be the primary hub for all independent journalism during the G20 Summit, and you can get in contact with the Briscan-G20 team if you would like to find out more.
Furthermore, as seen below, the Australian Roundtable and TOTT News are also offering a hub for citizen journalists to develop and publish their content during the duration of the 2014 G20 Summit in Brisbane. This includes internet and accommodation, so if you are interested – contact AustralianRoundtable@gmail.com for more information.
The Australian Roundtable Podcast will be broadcasting LIVE from Brisbane on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so stay tuned to http://www.YouTube.com/AustralianRoundtable for all the latest in domestic and international discussion during the G20 Summit.
