Perth’s Optus Stadium becomes Australia’s first 5G ‘smart arena’

OPTUS STADIUM SWITCHES ON

Optus has officially announced the launch of 5G services at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia.

VenuesWest, on behalf of the state government, together with Optus and VenuesLive, announced that 5G connectivity has now been switched on throughout key areas of Optus Stadium.

This includes the pitch, corporate suites and seating areas, among other locations.

Visitors to Optus Stadium will ‘immediately benefit’ from the new technology, even when 60,000 people are uploading images and streaming video of the event to social media.

The stadium already hopes to introduce 3D tours, the ability to order drinks and food from your seat, ‘enhanced interactive experiences’ and more. This will require quite an increase in capabilities.

Optus CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin said that “5G will be transformative in the home, at work and when we are at play, like cheering on your team or singing along to your favourite artist.”

“We know people have been eager to get back into Optus Stadium with a full crowd and with Optus 5G now enabled throughout the stadium, fans will be able to connect at the speed of their excitement.”

How exciting! (I hope the sarcasm translates through text).

The bread and the circuses. Foretold many decades ago as the ultimate form of control.

She continues: “This next generation technology has the potential to revolutionise the way sport and live entertainment is enjoyed.”

Oh, it will revolutionise, that’s for sure. Many times a society ends up worse after revolutions.

Of course, government officials also commented on the announcement. WA Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray had the following to say:

“5G is set to transform the way we now watch sport and live performances as well as how we connect with everyone, while also significantly enhancing the fans first experience.
It is an exciting partnership with Optus as our naming rights partner, with many additional benefits such as added technology support and funding.“

Optus have been assisting Australia’s biometric dystopian shift for years now.

OPTUS: THE 5G DARK HORSE

The move signifies a new chapter in Optus’ 5G vision, which has really been taking shape lately.

The road to 5G saw Optus begin switching on its 4.5G network in February 2017, followed by the addition of Massive MIMO and three-cell carrier aggregation to 4G at the end of last year.

Following this, Optus successfully commenced a trial of the technology in Newcastle in 2017, which employed 4.5G technology, the organisations’ precursor to 5G speeds.

Optus then announced they will begin rolling out a 5G fixed network in 2019, covering selected metro areas, following successful trials with speeds 15 times faster than current technologies.

Optus outlined its 5G rollout strategy in Australia, which will begin with 1,200 sites in the first wave and also include affordable unlimited 5G broadband services – the Optus 5G Home Broadband.

Optus officially launched commercial mobile 5G operations in 2019, and their network has now reached 900 live sites and is available to more than 426,000 households across Australia.

While most of the focus is on Telstra, Optus is certainly the dark horse in the race to complete national 5G networks, and we should all be keeping an eye on the moves of this organisation.

Let’s not forget that the Australian government has appointed Paul Fletcher, a former Optus Director, as the Communications Minister — responsible for advising cabinet and regulating 5G.

According to his official background page, Paul was the former Director of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at Optus for eight years, before venturing into the industry himself.

You read correctly. It is all a big, interconnected club.

Optus recently announced it was testing 5G mmWave technology in partnership with Ericsson, in anticipation for when 5G wavelengths officially open up for auction.

2021 will be the year 5G is planned to truly be unleashed upon the public.

MMWAVE SPECTRUM LICENSES

Australian media and communications regulator, ACMA, has announced that a total of 15 applicant companies have all been offered a license in the 26 GHz and 28 GHz bands.

Optus is included on the list, as well as Telstra, NBN Co and Starlink (SpaceX), and will use these licenses to fully harness the power of 5G at Optus Stadium and across Australia.

ACMA said that a number of applicants intend to provide wireless broadband services across all states and territories and across urban, regional and rural areas.

There was also considerable uptake from fixed satellite service providers across Australia, including from existing providers and new entrants to the Australian satellite market.

“mmWave can enable the transfer of large amounts of data with minimal delay – allowing faster digital communication and new opportunities for connectivity and innovative uses supporting Australia’s digital transformation,” ACMA said in a release.

In the second half of 2021, the Australian government will allocate low-band 5G spectrum (in the 850/900 MHz band), which will be key for broader geographic coverage of 5G services.

It is all beginning to heat up, folks. No pun intended.

Don’t forget about the 5G issue, amongst more corona madness and political circus distractions that continue to drown the airwaves. None of it is real, but the imposing threat of 5G is very real.

Outside of potential health concerns, experts have warned 5G will enable “unparalleled surveillance”. It is the key foundation of the surveillance state vision of the future.

Could the reason Perth is now locked down yet again be related to this? The announcements are less than a fortnight apart — with Optus signalling the stadium switch on January 21st 2021.

We know that lockdowns have previously been used as a pretext to roll out 5G technology, as well as the fact Perth is developing smart city projects and city-wide facial recognition capabilities.

Don’t be fooled by the propaganda and stand up before it is too late.

Support groups like the WeAreNotSAM campaign, which aims to raise community awareness.

Make some noise in your local area, or better yet, why not switch sports off completely?

Who will they service if nobody attends? Perhaps that is wishful thinking.
